Trina has been with Aspen Education Group for over 15 years, and for the past eight years of her career, has worked as the Executive Director for Youth Care. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Special and Elementary Education from Southern Utah University and also holds a Masters of Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix. Trina has taught at-risk youth in public, private and residential settings from elementary to secondary levels. In addition, her educational background includes experience in learning disabilities, testing and behavior modification.
Prior to joining the Youth Care team, Trina worked as the Director of Education for Olympus View Hospital for five years, giving her the opportunity to work, counsel and manage students struggling with substance abuse, eating disorders, ADHD, physical and sexual abuse, and mood disturbances. She also worked as the Executive Director of the NorthStar Program in Oregon.
In her spare time, Trina enjoys softball, golf, running, camping, reading and spending time with her family.
Tanya has been a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 20 years, and has gained experience in management as the Referral Communications Coordinator and Nursing Director at Youth Care. She has also worked in a variety of different managerial positions, including as the Admissions Director for an eating disorder treatment center. She came to Youth Care in 2001 and since then has specialized in ensuring both the mental and physical health of the adolescents she has worked with.
Tanya’s kindness, calmness and responsibility make her a great role model for Youth Care’s adolescent population, as her easy-going nature and tremendous follow-through make her a perfect fit for the team. In her personal time, Tanya likes to motorcycle, garden, read, be outdoors and spend time with her four children.
Dr. Richard Mickelsen
Medical Director / Psychiatrist
Dr. Richard Mickelsen is a Board Certified Psychiatrist specializing in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He joined the Youth Care team in 2004, following over 20 years of experience working with patients in mental health settings. His career includes vast experience in many different clinical settings such as inpatient care, outpatient care, residential care and correctional facilities.
To ensure that all of our students receive the highest quality of care, Dr. Mickelsen works closely with the medical and clinical teams at Youth Care. His extensive and broad expertise allows students and their families to begin and continue the healing process.
Dr. Mickelsen received his undergraduate degree at the University of Utah and quickly followed up his education with a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Utah Medical School. From there, he completed his internship and residency in General Psychiatry at the University of Vermont, Fletcher Allen Health Care and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire.
Outside of work, Dr. Mickelsen enjoys the theater, University of Utah football, tennis, and spending time with his family.
Peggy is a Registered Nurse and works as the Nursing Director at Youth Care. She attended Glendale College in Arizona and has since worked with children and adolescents in a variety of settings, including many years spent working with newborns that were healthy, premature or critically ill. Peggy is also experienced in working in Pediatric and Pediatric Intensive Care Units, and in addition, spent six years serving as a school nurse in the Phoenix area.
Since 2000, Peggy has been working in the field of psychiatry, gaining experience in both day treatment and residential treatment. She has raised six children of her own, as well as a few foster children who have helped Peggy bring both her personal and professional lives to new levels.
In her spare time, Peggy enjoys reading, theater, singing, movies and spending time with her family.
Bobbie Legg, LCSW, PhD
Dr. Bobbie Legg is a psychotherapist who has earned numerous educational accomplishments, including Social Work degrees as a BSW, MSW, and PhD from Eastern Mennonite University, The Catholic University of America and the Clinical Social Work Institute. In addition, she has also received a BA in camping, recreation, and outdoor leadership. Her education also includes the completion of the Post-Graduate Trauma Treatment Program at the University of Maryland. She works as a state and national speaker on the topics of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Adolescent Treatment and Adolescent Self-Expression.
Dr. Legg incorporates many different techniques into her work with the students at Youth Care, including popular therapies such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Expressive Therapies, and Family Therapy.
While she deeply enjoys her work, Dr. Legg also enjoys her free time, where she loves to do yoga, experience the outdoors and travel.
